After the collapse of the tribal relations, the population of the earth began to settle on completely different principle – territorial. Thus, the first towns began to be laid and constructed in the period of antiquity. Many of them survived to our times.
Cities with millennial history can surprise you much more than just beautiful architecture and unique artifacts. They are the fingerprints of previous eras and civilizations and they are a reflection of both positive and negative events of mankind. This city is full of amazing stories and legends and are the largest lures for experienced researchers. Let’s look at cities that are almost as old as the hills on which they were built.
1. Petra in Jordan
In the ancient city of Petra was the capital of the Hashemite state created by the Arab tribe. Find stone miracle in the desert near the resort of Aqaba.

Despite the fact that Ukraine is mostly an Orthodox country, digging deeper, you can see that its Catholic heritage and not so poor. In Ukraine there are more than 800 churches, which divided between the six Catholic dioceses, namely: Lutsk, Mukachevo, Kamyanets-Podilsky, Kyiv-Zhytomyr, Kharkiv and Zaporizhia and Odessa-Simferopol.
The word “Church” comes from the Polish castellum (strengthening). In Ukrainian, Polish, Belarusian, Slovak, and Silesian languages (Polish-Czech dialect) the word “Church” means a Christian Church, but is not used in Orthodox and Greek Catholic churches. I’m not an architect and don’t know many details, but in this article I will try to convey their impressions of Gothic architecture on the example of two cathedrals. It is with the Cathedral of St. Vitus and Stefan began my acquaintance with the Gothic.
Gothic replaced the classical (Roman) architecture. At first she was treated with disdain and where did the word Gothic (with Italian language Gotica translated as unusual or barbaric). But gradually this trend in architecture was gaining popularity. The oldest Gothic Church is the Notre Dame Cathedral (Notre Dame de Paris).
The main difference from Gothic classics is the use of the frame, where the entire structure is kept for special support, which, firstly, has ceased to be a part of the wall of the building, and secondly, are lighter than the massive columns of the Romanesque style. This design allowed us to increase the size of the building, especially in height. Continue reading
